1970年，卡本特的「Close to You」和同名的專輯上市發行，很快的就打進排行榜。五個星期後，這首歌登上了冠軍寶座，蟬聯四個星期，也讓卡本特兄妹奪得「年度最佳新進藝人」和「年度最佳流行合唱團體」兩項葛萊美獎，為流行音樂史揭開了新的一頁。

在我的記憶中，最早聽到的，而且縈繞腦海記憶彌新的西洋歌曲，大概就是卡本特兄妹所唱的歌。而這首在我出生那一年發表的歌曲close to you，也是除了yesterday once more以外，我一直很喜歡的另一首歌呢。
